JOB BRIEF

  • The Project Specialist, based in Tunis, provides project management, administrative and logistical support to USIP’s MENA initiatives as well as M&E coordination efforts.
  • This position reports to the Senior Project Officer for MENA Initiatives, Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • This is a Fixed-Time Term Personal Services Contractor position.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

MENA initiatives (Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Regional Training):

  • Lead, under the SPO guidance, the planning, budgeting and implementation of of all projects within the MENA initiatives portfolio in line with established goals, objectives, timelines and partnership agreements;
  • Support in the design of the MENA initiatives project proposals  
  • Support the drafting and editing of events’ agendas/documents, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ensure the highest level of communication and cooperation with relevant USIP departments/teams/partners;
  • Update project databases and documents as necessary to ensure the knowledge management of USIP’s projects;
  • Provide contract management support activities, including drafting the initial contract proposal language, completing the USIP contract template, processing invoices, and monitoring payment of contractor services;
  • Help reconcile the budget of the relevant projects by inputting transactions correctly, obligating funds, processing travel vouchers and reimbursements, and tracking the budget using financial software;
  • Represent the MENA initiatives team in internal and external events and meetings as agreed with the SPO;

MENA M&E:

  • In coordination with country teams and guided by the SPO, assist in the M&E Coordination of the MENA projects, including reviewing work plans, quarterly reports, participating in field visits, initiating regular portfolio reviews and contributing to project evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MA in a related field is a plus
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the peace building, conflict resolution or related field
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in conducting surveys, data collection activities, research and analysis for reporting over time;
  • Experience in developing knowledge and guidance products and working on knowledge management and organizational learning processes is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English & Arabic is required.
  • Financial acumen
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel is required

POST CONDITIONS :

  • Working hours: Full time (40 hours/week)
  • Location: Based in Tunis, Tunisia
  • Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Starting date: As soon as possible

  • Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience and with USIP’s pay scale.
