UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action and are financed. Throughout the world. UN Women provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building dialogues and effective partnerships with civil society, the private sector and other relevant actors. UN Women supports the implementation of 2030 Agenda, which situates the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerments as a pre-condition towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development. To achieve its vision of gender equality, UN Women is mandated with three key functions as outlined by its founding resolution (A/res/64/289), i.e. normative support functions, UN system coordination and operational activities.
UN Women in Libya
In line with the national priorities and existing frameworks, UN Women has opened a programme presence in Libya, to support the international community’s response to the complex humanitarian situation and security challenges facing the country. The programme aims to expand, develop and implement programmes and projects in Libya, developing effective partnerships with Government counterparts, UN system agencies and organizations, civil society organizations, and with bilateral and non-traditional donors in order to promote inter-agency partnerships, support for UN reform, and the mobilization of visibility and resources to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. Reporting to the dual Country Representative for Libya and Tunisia, a consultant is required to support the expanding program presence of UN Women in Libya and key events and meetings on women’s participation UN Women is organizing in the framework of its projects in Libya.
Objective Of The Assignment
UN Women Libya is seeking to recruit a qualified international consultant to support high-level meetings planning as well as partnerships and liaison with civil society in Libya, with the following specific tasks: – Support the organization of meetings within the scope of UN Women programs for Libya through support to designing the course of events, sequencing the tasks, finalizing materials, and reporting on the outcomes; – Provide support to UN Women’s communication and engagement with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and meeting participants.

Individual consultants will be evaluated based on the following methodology: Only candidates obtaining a minimum of 49 points in the technical evaluation would be considered for the financial evaluation.
