The British Embassy, Tunis has a vacancy for a Temporary Support Officer in the Political Team, Grade A2 (L). Employment beyond 31 March 2018 is not guaranteed.
Providing support to the Embassy’s political team.
*Research and draft reports on day-to-day political developments, with a particular focus on Tunisia’s foreign policy, migration and preparations for the municipal elections.
*Support to the transitional arrangements for the UK’s future relationship with Tunisia following the UK’s exit from the European Union.
*Organise roundtables, events and provide administrative support for the annual Bilateral Forum and for Ministerial visits.
*Support the management of the Chevening scholarship programme and Embassy strategic campaigns.
*Represent the Embassy at conferences and events.
*Seeing the Big Picture: Seeing the big picture is about having an in-depth understanding and knowledge of how your role fits with and supports organisational objectives and the wider public needs.
*Collaborating and Partnering: People skilled in this area create and maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the Civil Service to help get business done.
*Engaging Internationally – Effectiveness in this area is about leading internationally, engaging our staff, contacts and international partners to help deliver UK Government objectives.
*Delivering at Pace: Effectiveness in this area means focusing on delivering timely performance with energy and taking responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes.
Essential:
*Undergraduate degree in international relations, politics, or other relevant subject area
*Demonstrable knowledge and interest in Tunisian politics and international relations
*Excellent communication skills, including in English, French and Arabic
*Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Experience in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Desirable:
*Interpreting and translation skills
Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00 am to 16:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. 08:00 – 13:00 on Fridays.
The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. The salary will be TND 1700 per month.
The appointment is subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.
