Job Overview
- We are looking for a detail-oriented Proofreader to join our team.
- You must be proficient in the English language with advanced grammar rules and understand how they are used within our style guides. Our ideal candidate is meticulous in reviewing copy, noting errors such as punctuation, spelling, and word usage, and knows how to check statements for accuracy or potential plagiarism.
- You must communicate effectively with our faculty members and managers to ensure documents meet all our university guidelines.
Copy editor / Proofreader Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions and responsibilities that a Copywriter will perform on a day-to-day basis includes the following:
- • Reviewing documents for grammar, spelling, and style Fact-check dates and other statements for accuracy
- • Confirm all submitted writing is original
- • Make corrections and suggest edits to the document
- • Edit and proof work to ensure high editorial standards are met across all content outputs
- • Proofread and edit text at various stages of the writing process and in response to feedback from faculty members or managers
You’ll work on a range of content types, including:
- • Academic and technical publications.
- • Journals
- • Papers
- • Website content
- • Book chapters etc
Qualifications:
- • Master’s degree in English, Journalism, or Communications
- • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- • 2+ years of copy-editing experience preferred
- • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a diligent eye for detail, language, flow, and grammar
- • Ability to remain detailed-oriented and focused when processing large amounts of text
- • Basic knowledge of legal issues involved in publishing, such as plagiarism
- • Mastery of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors and ability to make constructive suggestions• Experience with content management systems
