Quantity Surveyor

Main purpose of the position

Currently, we are looking for a Quantity Surveyor in Tunis, Tunisia to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Quantity Surveyor, you will successfully conduct contractor tenders against bill of quantities, site progress measurement and follow-up of contracts in accordance with the corporate standards, policies and procedures. This role will assist the contract representatives with the pro-active administration to secure the cost, time and quality as envisaged in the contracts.

Main responsibilities 

• Follow the guidelines and prescribed structures as outlined by the operating system and provide continuous input towards improvement and optimisation of the operating systems
• Successfully implement the operating system throughout the development, structuring and execution phase of the Project
• Assist to prepare tender documents with the input of engineering, quality, HSE and other relevant departments in accordance with policies and procedures; commercial assessment of tenders and alignment of bills of quantities
• Assist in preparing contract documents for major purchases, consultants and construction, but with predominate focus on construction packages
• Assist with drafting contract correspondence, variation orders and notices in accordance with the contract; maintain a contract register depicting correspondence in and out, variations, contract risks and final account details
• Ensure that in house legal counsel is kept abreast of critical topics that have the potential to affect time, cost or quality
• Attend internal and external progress meetings in coordination with the project manager
• Conduct progress measurements for payment certification
• Settle site disputes on quantities and minor contract issues: keep contractor relations and correspondence open and clear
• Liaise with Project Controller and set up a system to ensure all Contract cost changes are traceable from start to finish so that an auditable costing trail is available
• Receive and check invoices, prepare payment certificates in accordance with the contract
• Prepare and negotiate final account agreements under strict compliance with corporate governance and under guidance from of the Project management

Qualifications and competencies 

• B.Sc. QS (Hons)
• Comprehensive knowledge of Contracts suites, NEC, GCC and FIDIC, EPC Contractors scope, EPC Contractors Schedule and the activities and deliverables
• Technical supplementary degree
• 5+ years Construction Contract Administration experience with the FIDIC suite of contracts in companies with strong procurement and Supply Chain Management practices
• Demonstrate familiarity with contract terms and conditions and the FIDIC suite of contracts
• Proven track record in affecting contract savings
• Language: fluent both written and spoken in English, French and Arabic
