Sr. Development Geophysicist (Interpretation):

Working within a multi-disciplinary team on a very large asset and reporting to the Sub-surface Manager, the Senior Development Geophysicist will play an important role in the identification and implementation of development options and further appraisal and exploration for the asset. The role is wide ranging and will suit someone with experience across the various aspects of development geoscience, including seismic mapping and quantitative interpretation, seismic acquisition, sedimentology, structural geology, reservoir description and characterization.

This will be a one year contract and may be extended.

Responsibilities:

• QC and validate surface and wellbore seismic data.
• Interpret 2D and 3D geophysical surface and well bore (VSP) data, including synthetic seismograms, seismic attribute volumes, horizon attributes , depth conversion and final depth maps, etc., all in full cooperation with other disciplines and integrating all petroleum engineering, geological and well data.
• Map geological horizons integrating all available static and dynamic data.
• Perform extraction of attributes correlating with reservoir properties
• QC seismic interpretation results and check for consistency with Geology and Reservoir Engineering
• Select development well locations in coordination with Geology and Reservoir Engineering
• Prepare the geophysical section of the Intents-To-Drill
• Propose and coordinate data acquisition and studies programs
• Provide a range of geophysical support and technical advice and guidance within the business
• Advises on suitable seismic measurement and data-processing techniques
• Designs seismic data acquisition plans Interprets seismic data to create maps
• Work closely with other technical departments including Geology, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering to incorporate seismic interpretation and mapping into field development and modelling workflows to find and extract oil and gas from existing fields as well as searching for potential new targets.
• Contribute into regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, exploration, and appraisal well proposals, etc., all in full cooperation with other disciplines and specifically integrating all geophysical data in multi-disciplinary studies.
• Propose and justify geophysical data gathering activities such as the acquisition and processing of new 2D or 3D seismic or re-processing of existing seismic data or acquisition and processing of gravity and magnetic data.
• Prepare technical presentations for internal and external use as required.
• Initiate and participate in peer assists and peer reviews. Seek input from others to ensure high technical standards and integration is achieved in subsurface evaluations.
• Perform other activities as requested to support Company’s objectives.
• Mentor junior professionals.
• Follow and promote HSE good practices.

Qualifications

In order to be considered for this job, applicants should have:

• B. Sc. Degree or higher in Geophysics with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Development Geophysicist.
• Proficient in seismic mapping and quantitative interpretation
• Proven track record on field development planning and execution
• Acquainted with surface and wellbore seismic acquisition operations
• Sound knowledge of Geology, Sedimentology, Structural Geology, and Petrophysics
• Good knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals
• Knowledgeable in open hole logging tools and operations
• Experience working in multi-cultural and multi-discipline environments
• Literacy in Petrel suite and attribute extraction software
• Experience working in multi-cultural and multi-discipline environments
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment constantly sharing information.
• A self-motivated team player who assists in creating an enthusiastic and positive multi-disciplinary team environment
• Effective communication skills in oral and written English mandatory.
