JOB DESCRIPTION

InstaDeep is looking for a new Operations Research (OR) Engineer to join our expanding team on a permanent contract.

In the Engineering Team, Research Engineers (REs) focus on understanding business problems, identifying and harnessing the right AI/OR or cognitive computing technologies to solve them, and take part in the commercial deployment of their solution.

REs intervene at every stage of the life of a project. REs provide technical expertise and scope projects during pre-sales, drive research and development for Proof of Concepts (POC), develop Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), and ensure continuous improvement and maintenance for industrialized solutions.

Among the tasks the OR RE is responsible for, it is important to mention that he/she:

Develops algorithms for common combinatorial problems (logistics, routing, planning, etc.)
Provides software design and programming support,
Implements software libraries, supporting the business development,
Manages POC and projects

In this role, at InstaDeep you will report to Senior Product Lead. This role may require overseas travel, Research Engineers must be available to travel.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute towards developing highly scalable algorithms based on state-of-the-art operations research methodologies.
Collaborate with the Research department to facilitate the integration of classical optimization techniques with the latest advances in Deep Learning and Deep Reinforcement Learning.
Report and present development work clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally (clients, different audiences, etc.), both verbally and in writing.
Actively collaborate with BD team in the pres sales activities, including but not limited to presenting the company to new prospective clients, writing decks and proposals, participating in calls and meetings, and representing Instadeep in conferences/events

REQUIREMENTS

Postgraduate degree in Operations Research (OR), Industrial Engineering or another STEM field with a strong focus on mathematical optimization
Industrial experience in solving optimization problems by creation of heuristics, exact algorithms, and the usage of tools like Gurobi, Cplex, or similar, especially in the areas of scheduling or logistics
Experience in developing and debugging production-level Python and/or C++. Proficiency with Git workflow
Experience in deep learning and reinforcement learning models is highly valuable
Excellent written and verbal English communication. Excellent presentation skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Highly proactive, possess advanced problem-solving ability, critical and strategic thinking
Able to participate and lead high-profile POC in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
