Who are we ?

Birdhouce is a direct-to-consumer furniture startup aiming to provide personalized high-quality home storage. Our goal is to make every piece of furniture unique and personal to each home so no 2 pieces are the same. Our design-driven products are as eye-catching as they are functional. Developing our own online 3D product-configurator makes every customer a designer from the comfort of their home.

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented candidate with great interpersonal skills for a full-time internship role as product-designer for the summer of 2022. The role’s key responsibilities include creating 2D and 3D designs of the main Birdhouce product catalog.

What you’ll do.

• Create high-quality designs of the Birdhouce home-storage product catalog. (Products range from MDF small shoe-storage to large wall-storage units).
• Conceptualize new and creative ways to interact with products (unique handles, doors, drawers)
• Create 3D models of the product catalog.
• Create 2D manufacturing files of the products
• Create 3D visualizations of home interiors with Birdhouce products.

What we’re looking for.

• A creative individual with a great sense of design aesthetic.
• A passion for beautiful, design-driven everyday products.
• Proficiency in SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D or other 3D modeling software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or other drafting software is a must.
• General understanding of product design, and turning concepts into 2D drawings.
• Great communication and presentation skills
• Great project management skills
• BS degree in product design, architecture, interior design or similar.
• Portfolio of previous work is a must.

What you’ll learn.

• Working with a the founding team of a startup will get you involved in many conversations relating to design, branding, marketing, consumer behavior etc.
• A clear understanding of how concepts and 2D drawings are turned into everyday consumer products.
• How to develop a strong brand-presence in the home furniture industry.
