Role Responsibility
We are looking for a Senior Broadcast Journalist (Planning) to join the new Tunisia team on a fixed term contract. You will play a key role in the Arabic Newsgathering planning desk, where you will plan coverage and specific story projects and commission stories from Regional Arabic Correspondents and Stringers as required.
We expect you to support BBC Arabic by exploring and pitching stories to be covered by regional correspondents and stringers in Tunisia and North Africa and preparing and suggesting coverage plans for political, cultural, social and humanitarian events across the region. You will plan next day or longer term coverage, booking two-ways and packages from correspondents in the field and liaise effectively with correspondents and producers, gathering advice on stories and coverage and providing support to the newsroom.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be fluent in classic Arabic (written and spoken), with an excellent command of English. You will have substantial experience in a senior journalistic role, with sound knowledge of North African affairs and Arab and international news stories and issues, as well as forthcoming news events. Knowledge of TV, radio & online production techniques and facilities is essential. You will have a full understanding of social media and its role in news and the ability to create original and relevant stories for the target audience.
