Apprentus is an online marketplace connecting students and private teachers. Our mission is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and have a positive impact on society. We’re about to reach millions of users and need to find the best CTO in Tunisia to go even further!

Mission

We are currently looking for an experienced CTO to help us scale and strengthen our engineering team. You will manage, organize and recruit.

As a CTO of a growing company, we will need you to reconsider the way we build our software and you will be in charge of those changes. You will help our engineers see things we haven’t seen, consider things never considered before, decide what are the new stacks that we could include to improve our product.

• You will guarantee delivery excellence within the IT Team through internal organization, reporting, measurement and documentation.
• You’ll be responsible for the quality of service (performance, security and stability) by implementing the right technologies and architectures.
• You will be responsible for the costs and budgeting at the direction level.
• And you will represent our engineering strategy within Apprentus.

Candidate

The ideal candidate:

• You have a strong experience in a similar position, ideally in a fast-growing software company
• You have a successful proven track record in either recruiting an engineering team or scaling up a team to more than double its original size
• You have experience in working with remote teams, organizing existing teams and helping them improve their productivity
• You can read code and understand it. You know how to use repositories. You are not hands on but you can lay a helping hand to whoever needs it
• You understand architecture, cloud infrastructure
• You understand when “always building everything from scratch” is more a waste of time than anything else
• You know what needs to be measured to grant the minimum required level of quality you expect without hurting the team’s capacity to work
• Geek at heart, no new trend escapes your attention. You are also always aware of the improvements and updates of the “things we use”

As well:

• You’re great with numbers. You write very well, You are not bothered by questions
• You are not afraid of the pressure and chaos that come with a scale up context
• Your leadership is centered around making other people grow and shine. You lead by example and not by authority
• You know how to surround yourself with people who are far better than you and who will therefore strengthen you
• You know and understand that you can be wrong more often than not
• You know that keeping your team informed on your actions is the best way to succeed
• You are well organized, pay attention to details and ask a lot of questions.
• You are fluent in English
