The position includes mobile-first web development, responsive design, and development of specific modules with native coding.

The candidate will be asked to :

Ensures successful and timely Web development to support overall mobile-first strategy including related modules, internal and external databases, and applications. Utilizes the latest web development technologies, including SASS, Git, and module bundlers such as webpack and gulp.js.
Researches, develops and/or coordinates new technologies in support of asset hosting, social media integration, and animations, videos, and other media.
Maintains assets within different content management system (CMS) and supports the development of new templates, modules, and all aspects of infrastructure.
Ensures security of Web sites and related applications, performs periodic Web site audits; monitors and reports on Web site performance, and actively works to improve overall site performance.
Advises on/manages technical issues and contributes to the development and maintenance of the overall information architecture and taxonomies of the JHM site(s).
Works with web team and other institutional web leaders to establish Johns Hopkins Medicine Web standards, guidelines, and policies.
Supports training on topics related to the CMS, as well as on Web accessibility/usability standards.

Education:

Bachelor’ degree required – Equivalent experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted.

Work Experience:

Demonstrated experience and competency areas should include the following:

HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and advanced CSS, including the ability to write W3C-validated markup that supports both desktop and mobile environments. Successful candidate will have experience with SASS, Git, and module bundlers such as webpack or gulp.js.

The successful candidate will have designed and integrated templates in a variety of CMS systems. Candidate should have knowledge of or worked with various programming languages such as ASP.NET, Angular, Bootstrap, JS, PHP, or C#, or other object-oriented languages.

Demonstrated design proficiency, and experience with design tools such as the Adobe product suite and the ability to convert flat designs to HTML/CSS.

Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate experience in the following competency areas including:

Familiarity with Google APIs
Proven understanding of online security standards and methods;
Familiarity with developing and managing web sites within a Content Management System. Experience with design-related tools including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Ability to conduct research into emerging Internet technologies and programming languages.
Ability to research, organize, and present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to organize, manage, and work within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will be able to navigate, negotiate, and accommodate the needs of a diverse community. Must be able to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer and interpersonal/human relations service skills.

Knowledge/Skills:

Proven, relevant experience in cross-functional development with a broad range of Web technologies.
Working knowledge of Web server technology and the ability to make appropriate hardware and software recommendations.
Strong knowledge of Web strategies, technologies, protocols, and tools.
Strong knowledge and understanding of various Internet programming languages, analytics and trends.
Knowledge and understanding of application development methodologies.
Working knowledge of structuring, developing, and implementing interactive Web sites.
Knowledge of database development.
Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.

Minimum Qualifications

2-3+ year of professional web development with front-end focus.
Understanding of the web development lifecycle, including QA.
Experience communicating directly with clients.
High proficiency with the HTML/CSS/JavaScript backed by a sharp, critical eye for detail.
