Accounting Specialist

Job Description Summary 

You will act as source to pay subject matter expert supporting accounts payable operations in North West Africa, and country specific payment, document retention and filing requirements in Tunisia. You will also drive process improvements and support system changes by ensuring the right level of engagement for impacted teams occurs and changes are properly communicated to key business stakeholders. You will develop strong working relationships with Sourcing, Controllership, Treasury, Cash, IT, and other related teams to ensure hand-offs between processes are robust and that changes in process and systems are communicated to all.

Job Description Responsibilities

• Manage in-country document retention; reception of vendor invoices and other documents, scanning, and archiving such documents in compliance with country regulations.
• Manage relationship with banks and provide necessary data/input/reports on a timely manner to release internal/external payments
• Forge strong relationships with 3rd party Genpact Accounts Payable (AP) and intercompany teams, other shared service teams and within GE Healthcare to deliver on key objectives to increase the level of business support and satisfaction (voice of customer)
• Partner with external vendors in case of escalations and perform regular vendor statement of account reconciliations and share findings with vendors to improve overall billing and backup process by following GE guidelines and to resolve any disputes/overpayments/lack of supporting documents.
• Partner with sourcing and vendor management teams to keep supplier records up to date to eliminate payment failures and maintain data integrity, with controllership and tax teams on statutory reconciliations and audits and with IT leaders and project managers to ensure robust hand-offs between AP and other teams on day to day activities and improvement projects
• Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up with buyers and vendors for receiving and invoicing and closing.
• Develop relations with sourcing teams to support initiatives and gain engagement from sourcing to support AP initiatives including vendor master clean-up, electronic invoicing and hold reductions.
• Monitor region Key Performance Indexes to measure performance and analyze trends and patterns.
• Support on any emergency issues with overdue payments as required, internal and external audit requests from tax vendors
• Ensure compliance all requirements and adherence to sourcing and AP related policies

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
• Detailed understanding of source to pay operations
• Fluent in English, and French; Arabic is an added advantage
• Experience of working with multiple teams both GE and 3rd party across region
• Excellent communicator, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Hands on experience on Oracle and other AP tools Technical accounting background an advantage.
• Lean mindset. Always seek process improvement and simplification.
• Ability to deal effectively with rapid and changing priorities
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change
